If you have not seen the inmate “Thriller” dance video on YouTube, you should see it now! Canadians are making the successful viral video into a musical web series called “Prison Dancers” inspired by the 49-million-times-viewed video of Filipino prisoners doing the routine to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”. The production of the web series just wrapped in Toronto and should be ready to view in March. The series was filmed in a mockumentary style with a running time of eight to five minute long webisodes and is told from the point of view of Matt, a web culture journalist who starts to look into the lives of inmates who become YouTube sensations. The creator of the show didn’t want to give us to much of the story, but she did say that it is a sort of Glee-type set in a Filipino prison with classic musical elements. They have already plotted out the character’s story arcs for three seasons and they’re long term goal it to reach the pinnacle of all musicals - taking it to Broadway. What are your thoughts on this mockumentary?

Holiday movies! Some like to start bringing them out in November, some like to watch them over and over, and as for me I just have to watch “A Christmas Story” on Christmas day :) this movie basically defines the childhoods of so many people. Cable channels likes to start playing these movies around this time and on rotation that they have ingrained themselves in my mind and the minds of others. One of which is “Love Actually” a must see around the holidays. It follows the intersecting lives of eight couples and features an amazing cast starring Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson. “Miracle on 34th Street” is another favorite of mine and a tear jerker, following little miss Natalie Wood, a young girl raised by her cynical mother to believe that there is no real magic or fantasy in the world. Almost makes me want to believe in Santa Claus! And as a child I remember this movie coming out and loving it! It pulls double duty as both a Christmas movie and a Halloween movie ”The Nightmare Before Christmas”. As the king of Halloween who discovers the world of Christmastown and struggles to introduce his residents to that new world. Also another favorite! What are some of your favorite Holiday movies??
